History Adventure Camps

When school is out, learning and fun are in at the History Center! History Adventure Camps include behind-the-scenes tours, outdoor activities and interactions with historians and experts. At the conclusion of each camp, each child will take home a memory book of their adventures.

Each week-long Adventure Camp is led by experienced educators who provide hands-on, educational activities for campers. Join the History Center for one or more of these week-long adventures.

History Adventure Camps include streetcar excursions to historic Ybor City, behind-the-scenes tours, field trips to nearby cultural sites, outdoor activities and interactions with historians and experts. At the conclusion of each camp, each child will take home a memory book of their adventures. Each week-long Adventure Camp is led by experienced educators who provide hands-on, educational activities for campers. Join the History Center for one or more of these week-long adventures.

AMERICAN GIRL© - June 4-8

Peek into the past with your favorite dolls! Spend your week adventuring with Kaya, Addy, and Molly. You will even plant your own victory garden! American Girl Dolls© not required for participation.

PIRATES AND EXPLORERS - June 18-22
Ahoy, Mateys! Climb aboard and use your navigation skills to reveal the truth about pirates in Tampa Bay! Join us for games and crafts as professional archaeologists help you solve the mysteries of sunken ships!
CREATE TAMPA - June 25-29
Paint, draw and collage your way through history! Wander into Tampa’s past while creating museum-worthy masterpieces. Get inspired by our newest “American Flags: The Stars and Stripes in American History and Culture” exhibit and create your own Andy Warhol inspired pop-art.
AMERICAN GIRL© - July 9-13

WILD FLORIDA - July 10-12 (Middle School Camp)

NEW MIDDLE SCHOOL CAMP! Take a walk on the wild side! From swamps to beaches and oceans, discover the beauty and complexity of Florida’s natural environment. Learn what plants are edible and even uncover nature’s secrets with real-life archaeologists!

THE HISTORY SENSE - July 23-27
Is your ‘history sense’ tingling? Touch, taste, smell, hear, and see your way through Tampa Bay. Unleash your senses by tricking your taste buds and getting hands-on with history!

Camp Requirements

Camp Requirements

Camps may include guest speaker, museum store visit, museum behind the scenes tour, Cotanchobee Park playground and waterplay day and take-home memory book.

Register online here, each child and session separately. Camp registration is handled on a first-come, first-served basis. Camp fills up, so register today!

Register before March 26 and receive 10% off registration for non-History Center members. Join today and receive 20% off all History Center programs.

Elementary Camp Price: $215/week + optional $35 extended care

Middle School Camp Price: $100/week (Camp is 3 days. Extended care is not available for this camp.)

Member Camp Price: 20% discount

Campers must be within the age range allowed for each camp during the week(s) of their camp.

Elementary Camps: Ages 7-11

Middle School Camps: Ages 12-14

Elementary Camp hours: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Middle School Camp hours: 9a.m. – 1 p.m.

Extended care is available from 8-9 a.m. and 4-5:30 p.m. for an additional fee. Extended care is not available for middle school camp.

Refund Policy: A refund, minus a $25 administrative fee, will be issued if a written cancellation request is received at least 10 business days prior to the first day of camp.

Camp Reviews

The girls loved the connection with the galleries and activities associated with the galleries. In particular, they so enjoyed the pioneer experience. As to activities, the girls played with their crafts each evening so it was a major success.

This is first and only time I have had my son in ANY after school activity or summer camp that the directors have let me know so thoroughly everything about the camp and what was going on. It was the best experience both my son and I have had with any camp hands down. I have already been recommending the History Center to everyone I know.

Both of my kids love absolutely everything about camp. I love that they love it and there is never any complaining about going. They beg to stay until the very end of the day and get mad if I pick them up early! I also like that they are learning while having fun!
