Madame Fortune Taylor Walking Tour
A former slave, business owner and community leader who amassed more than 30 acres of land along the eastern bank of the Hillsborough River in the 1800s, Fortune Taylor was a true Tampa pioneer.
The Madame Fortune Taylor Walking Tour takes you through the original homestead of Madame Taylor, the namesake of Tampa’s Fortune Street and the recently re-named Fortune Taylor Bridge.
Participants will walk a total of approximately one mile along public sidewalks and brick streets. Please be sure to wear comfortable shoes and attire for walking outside. Guests might also want to bring bottled water on the tour.
The Madame Fortune Taylor Walking Tour starts at the John F Germany Public Library, 900 North Ashley Drive, Tampa, FL 33602. Walking tours do not meet at the History Center.
Tours are limited to 20 people, advance tickets are required. Face coverings, social distancing, and other COVID-19 protocols are strongly encouraged. Call us at 813.228.0097 with any questions.
