The History Center is celebrating Independence Day by offering free admission for all Bank of America cardholders and $5 admission for all other visitors on Wednesday, July 4, with extended hours from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Costumed reenactors representing several eras of American military history will be at the History Center to interact with guests. Nearly two dozen costumed historical interpreters will depict Civil-War, Seminole War, Spanish American War, and WWII-era soldiers, sailors, and citizens. Interpreters will share hands-on displays of artifacts, uniforms, crafts and music.

New this year, historical interpreters will also depict early European explorers and 18th century pirates, highlighting the History Center’s new “Treasure Seekers: Conquistadors, Pirates and Shipwrecks” gallery.

Included with admission, guests will also be able to see the exhibit, “American Flags: The Stars and Stripes in American History and Culture, Presented by Bank of America,” which is at the History Center for only a few more weeks. The special exhibit featuring original, hand-sewn American Flags dating back to the American Revolution and the Civil War is at the History Center through July 29.

Bank of America cardholders will receive free admission for the individual named on the card. All other visitors will receive $5 admission to the History Center’s exhibit galleries, with extended hours until 7 p.m.

“This exhibit sponsorship is part of our efforts to support the arts and the economic vitality they bring to local communities,” said Bill Goede, Tampa Bay president, Bank of America. “We’re happy to make a direct impact by rewarding our cardholders with the opportunity to visit a great local museum for free during the upcoming holiday.”
