Scout Tours and Workshops
Scout Tours
Boy and Girl Scouts can fulfill “Go See It” and “Try It” activities byexploring the Tampa Bay History Center’s hands-on galleries. Dress up and experience the chores of a Florida pioneer in our cabin, navigate up the Hillsborough River in our row boat, or design your own fruit crate label and email it to family and friends.
Group rates are $6 per scout and $8 per each accompanying adult. Group admission rates apply for groups of 10 or more. For an additional cost, purchase one of our Field Guides complete with fun activities and trivia or rent a backpack filled with games, puzzles, scavenger hunts, and more! Both are appropriate for ages 6-12.
For no additional charge, a knowledgeable docent can lead your tour through Tampa’s exciting past while encouraging thoughtful and interesting discussion amongst the group.
Scout Workshops
In addition, exciting and educational workshops include activities that help Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts of various levels earn badges and more. From Local Lore to Collecting, all activities align with Boy and Girl Scout standards. Click here for a workshop menu.
Schedule your own date. A minimum of three weeks advance notice is needed to book a workshop. Registration and a 50% security deposit must be received two weeks prior to workshop. Full balance is due on the day of the workshop. The chaperone ratio is one adult for every five scouts.
The fee for Scout Workshops is $14 per child and $8 per adult. Gallery admission is included. One free chaperone for every five scouts is required.
Can’t decide? Do both and explore the galleries before or after your workshop! Make a
day of it by dining in the Columbia Café (with kid’s fare!), shopping in our kid-friendly
museum store, or cool off in our play fountains, waterfront park, and playgrounds.
• Badges, etc. are not provided during the programs or tours. Please contact your troop leader for information regarding the purchase of badges and other scout materials.
To register, contact the History Center’s Assistant Curator of Education, Jennifer Tyson, at 813-675-8960 or jtyson@tampabayhistorycenter.org
