
Bring the our resources into your classroom or organization with the History Center History-to-Go kits. The kits are filled with hands-on objects and activities and provide everything you need to explore a fascinating topic. Kits may be borrowed at no charge for three weeks. History-To-Go Kit Themes:
Rough Riders, Yellow Kids and the Spanish American War
Students will enter the world of 1898, learning about the events that led to and consequences of the Spanish American War. Objects include a Rough Rider replica uniform.
Florida's First People
Students studying early Florida will learn about Tampa Bay’s native inhabitants, who lived in around the Bay Area nearly 12,000 years ago. Activities cover the tools, crafts, and customs of Florida's native tribes. Objects include reproductions of Paleo-Indian wood and stone tools.
Cigar City: Tampa's Immigrant Experience
Cigar City explores Tampa's turn-of the-century immigrant communities of Ybor City and West Tampa. Students will focus on the immigrant experience at the turn of the 20th century and understand the cultural and economic effect of the cigar industry on Tampa. Objects include traditional Spanish clothing and cigar workers’ tools.
Florida's Seminole Tribes
Our Seminole Kit explores the history and culture of Florida's Seminole Indians, from their arrival in the 1700s through Florida's three Seminole Wars. Students will learn about Fort Brooke, the issues surrounding Indian Removal in the 1830s and the modern legacy of the Seminole Tribe.
