Thank you for choosing to bring your students to the Tampa Bay History Center! Whether this is your first visit or you’ve made the History Center a yearly tradition, we look forward to working with you to plan a fun and engaging experience for your students.  During their two-hour visit students are guided by our skilled docents who help them to discover some of the significant people, ideas, and events that have helped to shape our region and state.  For more information or to book your field trip call 813-675-8980 or email groupsales@tampabayhistorycenter.org.

Capacity

The History Center can accommodate up to 120 students at one time, and we suggest that larger groups divide their students into two separate field trips.  A minimum of 10 students is required for a tour and group rate.  We require a minimum of one adult chaperone for every ten students.

Grade Levels

Our History Highlights tour, which provides a general overview of the museum, is designed for grades 4 to 12. Tours can be adapted for grades pre-K to 3. Please call for details.

Tour Length & Content

A field trip lasts two hours, and during this time students will have a chance to see all of the exhibits in the History Center. The guided tour focuses on the first floor galleries, where docents cover Florida’s early people and the European contact period, Seminole Indian history and culture with a focus on the Second Seminole War, and industrialization and immigration in Ybor City and West Tampa.  Students will also be provided with a fun scavenger hunt to lead them through our interactive second floor galleries.

In addition, students participate in a scavenger hunt or hands-on activity while exploring the second and third floor galleries.
