
School Field Trips
Bring your students to the History Center for a fun and engaging field trip. During their two-hour visit, students are guided by skilled docents as they discover some of the significant people, ideas and events that have helped shape our region and state. Reservations
Field trip reservations must be made at least three weeks in advance. Dates fill quickly; make your reservation early in the school year to avoid disappointment. To request a field trip date, click here to submit a tour request or call 813-675-8981.
Capacity
The History Center can accommodate up to 120 students at one time. A minimum of 10 students is required for a tour and group rate.
Grade Levels
Our History Highlights tour, which provides a general overview of the museum, is designed for grades 4 to 12. Tours can be adapted for grades pre-K to 3. Please call for details.
Tour Length & Content
A field trip lasts two hours. During this time students will have a chance to see all of the exhibits in the History Center. The guided tour focuses on the first floor galleries, where docents cover three topics:

Florida’s early people and European contact period

Seminole Indian history and culture, with a focus on the Second Seminole War
- Industrialization and immigration in Ybor City and West Tampa
In addition, students participate in a scavenger hunt or hands-on activity while exploring the second and third floor galleries.
