Florida Folk Life
Friday, February 10 (10 a.m.-2 p.m.)
Join us on a journey back to pioneer days, as we explore Florida’s Cracker heritage. Featuring an interactive storytelling show, “Florida Folk Tales,” by professional storyteller Katie Adams. Children will also meet pioneer-era reenactors; participate in age-appropriate, hands-on activities and games; and explore the museum’s galleries.

Florida’s Indian Heritage
Friday, June 1 (10 a.m.-2 p.m.)
Learn about Florida’s native peoples, from the Tocobaga and Calusa, who lived long ago, to the modern-day Seminole Indians. Find out how native peoples hunted, fished and farmed in the past. Explore the stories, artwork, clothing, music and foodways of Florida’s thriving Seminole Tribe.

Mystery Artifacts, Maps and More!
Friday, September 28 (10 a.m.-2 p.m.)
The History Center’s collections include more than 40,000 artifacts—not to mention thousands of maps and books! Take a peek at our collections and find out how we care for them. Learn how to analyze artifacts like a historian, read maps like a geographer, and handle documents like an archivist. Younger children will enjoy a gallery hunt and other fun, age-appropriate activities.
